Got a little fresh girl that lives on the block
I wish she would try
To drop it like its hot
Hopin my boys don't
Think that's cute
Hopin lil jae don't try
And follow suit.
(Side note - she just said to this dude, "see I hate Puerto Rican people." - that stuff is learned!)
She also started to tell the Puerto Rican (if that's really what he was) boy, "you need to go home, cause we're black and you're..." I was like, "Stop right there!" I went on to explain that God made us all and we need to learn to love everyone. The very same girl called Miyo - big lips, to which I told her sternly, "no name-calling!" Junior chicken-head in the making, but I gotta show her God's love!
I gotta pray that God gives me wisdom, love, and courage to deal with these little kids. I gotta take more time to be outside and be a presence instead of just letting them go outside and deal with stuff on their own.

Servicing the Community

Today I had a chance to do some community service. It took me way out of my comfort zone! There were several projects and our group selected the Senior Citizen Park. To call it a park was a stretch of the imagination. Weeds, a lone tree and a bench do not constitute a "park". But, whatever, if you wanna call it a park, then cool - go for it! Lots of growth, lots of trash buried under the grass. I should have took some before shots, but I didn't - so here are some after shots (from my phone)

Home Alone...
It's just about 8:00pm and I am in the house by myself. The kids are with family, the husband's supporting a youth football team and I, I am going to try to get back into this blogging thing. Many things are occurring and I have not been taking the time to get it all out of my head. This post will be a little bit all over the place - eventually I'll be able to separate events as they unfold.
My hair is a little longer, my figure a little fuller, my patience a little thinner, my thoughts a little scattered, my clothes a little less exciting, my goals a little clearer. My age is a little older, my body is a little bit achier (is that a word...is now), my list of pet peeves is growing.
THE END.
(you gotta start somewhere!)
